July 31 Agent Update

We’re Here to Serve You: Inside AgriSompo’s Sales Team Training

Over the past year, the team at AgriSompo has been engaged in a serious training initiative. Every leader in the organization has undergone a course designed to refine their abilities and cultivate their strengths; now, each of our business development representatives are attending a similar training program.

Why do we do this – and what does it mean for you?

By improving our own team, we directly and concretely improve the experience of our agents. A well-trained representative is more efficient with your time and more skilled at identifying the solutions for your needs.

One team, one story.

At AgriSompo, everyone speaks the same language. Each member of our team works from the same playbook and has the same priority: growing your business. Agents know what to expect every time they meet with a member of the AgriSompo team – it’s part of what makes us the easiest AIP to partner with.

We’re proud to hold our team to the highest standard when it comes to managing relationships with our partner agents and providing an experience that leads the industry.

A comprehensive toolkit.

Crop insurance can throw a lot your way. Agents never know what challenges they’ll face in each season.

Fortunately, AgriSompo’s tools are equally varied. Our representatives have the knowledge to guide you to a risk management solution that’s perfectly tailored to each of your policyholders’ operations.

A customer-first approach to training.

The first thing our representatives learn is this: everything we do must make the agent’s job easier or grow their bottom line. AgriSompo’s training plan heavily incorporates agent feedback and our extensive real-world experience to ensure we’re building the kind of AIP that supports you and your business needs.

What is the training like?

During the latest multi-day course, our sales team worked through a series of high-intensity exercises meant to make each of them an invaluable resource for your agency.

We start with the tools for constant improvement. Our team develops a lifelong habit of self-assessment; we learn to evaluate every agent meeting we conduct to identify what went right, what went wrong and how we can do better next time. To quote the educational philosopher John Dewey: “We don’t learn from experience. We learn from reflecting on experience.”

We develop an efficient framework for every interaction. Our representatives are drilled on a step-by-step plan for tackling your problems without beating around the bush. You don’t have time to waste, and we’re trained to get straight to work understanding your challenges and identifying the right solutions.

We learn to tell a story. I say it over and over again: whoever tells the story best wins. Your AgriSompo representative is a master of distilling the story of your agency and helping you tell it to the producers in your area. Even in an industry as competitive as ours, we have the resources and the strategies to make you stand out.

General News and Reminders

Our New Agency Services Process

To improve response times and customer service, our Agency Services team has transitioned from one centralized email address (AgAgencySvs@sompo-intl.com) to multiple regionalized email addresses.

Please make a note of the new email address for your region:

Great Lakes: AgAgencySvsGL@sompo-intl.com

West: AgAgencySvsW@sompo-intl.com

Southeast: AgAgencySvsSE@sompo-intl.com

Upper Midwest: AgAgencySvsUMW@sompo-intl.com

Midwest: AgAgencySvsMW@sompo-intl.com

Southwest: AgAgencySvsSW@sompo-intl.com

National Accounts only: AgAgencySvs@sompo-intl.com

This change will allow our Agency Services analysts to better manage relationships with agencies, agents, employees and adjusters in their regions.

Help Us Collect Policyholder Email Addresses

One of AgriSompo’s goals is to improve efficiencies and lower our carbon footprint with regard to physical mailings. We are working toward sending these documents digitally, decreasing the time for insureds to receive policy documentation.

To help us achieve this goal, please ensure your customers have a valid email address on file using the Insured Address List report in AgriNet.

This report can be found under the Reports tab. Open the Underwriting menu and select Insured Address List. The report may be exported into an Excel or PDF document. AgriSompo thanks you for your cooperation and assistance.

Important Reminder

Policyholders for Reinsurance Year 2026 will soon start to receive a notice (as required by policy) regarding changes to basic provisions, crop policies, endorsements and special provisions of insurance.

You can access past and current Insured Notifications within the Saba system. In the Crop Insurance Wiki section, click Insured Notifications. The notifications are organized by the sales closing date (when applicable) or the mailing date. We hope this will assist with any questions your customers may have after receiving a notification letter.

Insureds that are eligible for precision agriculture (PA) will also soon start receiving information about where to obtain the PA Enrollment Guidelines as required by the RMA. PA only applies to category B crops.

Please contact your AgriSompo representative if you have any questions.

Notice of Policy Document Issuance

Following sales closing dates, insureds will receive policy issuance letters along with a coverage confirmation. These documents can be viewed within AgriNet in the policy's Imaging screen.

Please contact your AgriSompo representative with any questions.

Product Spotlight: Margin Coverage Option

As we look forward to the 2026 sales season, AgriSompo sees the potential for unpredictable fluctuations in the global commodities markets. That’s why we’re excited to recommend the Margin Coverage Option (MCO) for producers who can benefit from its flexibility and customization.

The Margin Coverage Option is a new endorsement for 2026 that brings together the best of Margin Protection and the Enhanced Coverage Option (ECO). With MCO, growers can protect against an increase in input costs while benefiting from an earlier price discovery period for covered commodities.

The program offers more simplicity and adaptability than Margin Protection, and works in combination with an underlying Yield Protection, Revenue Protection or Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion policy.

With MCO, your policyholders can:

Stop worrying about their margins. When high input costs threaten a farmer’s profits, MCO provides coverage similarly to Margin Protection.

Lock in their crop price with an earlier discovery period, which means peace of mind even in the face of market volatility.

Spread their risk across two different discovery periods by choosing one for Margin Protection and one for their underling YP, RP or RP-HPE policy.
