Interested in becoming an Adjuster?

Here is what you need to know about the role and how it supports producers and agents in the field.

What adjusters do
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with area claim supervisors, policyholders, agents and fellow adjusters. 

  • Inspect crops and property to assess damage, including measuring fields and storage bins and reviewing maps and aerial imagery. 

  • Collect, document and submit loss information to determine potential damages in compliance with FCIC, NCIS and company guidelines. 

  • Investigate crop damage through fact-finding, accurate recordkeeping and timely reporting to support proper claim resolution. 

  • Explain adjusting procedures and findings clearly to policyholders and agents. 

  • Follow all federal, state and company rules, regulations, policies and procedures for MPCI and private products. 

  • Use company software and communication tools daily, including email, messaging platforms and virtual meeting tools. 

  • Complete required initial and ongoing training, certifications and continuing education as mandated by FCIC and state regulations. 

  • Stay open to learning about new crops, coverage changes and industry updates. 

  • Work remotely from a home-based office while managing a designated territory. 

Preferred skills
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals inside and outside the organization. 

  • Attention to detail and the ability to complete required documentation accurately and thoroughly. 

  • Analytical thinking skills to gather facts, solve problems and make sound decisions. 

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work efficiently with limited supervision. 

  • Flexibility to work both indoors and outdoors, including time spent in farm and field environments. 

  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. 

  • A strong focus on delivering high-quality customer service to agents, policyholders and internal partners. 

  • A working knowledge of crop insurance regulations, policies, procedures and best practices, or the willingness to learn. 

  • The ability to manage deadlines, stay organized and perform well under pressure. 

  • Initiative and accountability in managing daily responsibilities. 

  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and adjust as needed.
