Mental health in rural America
Addressing the mental health crisis in rural America
In rural communities across the nation, a quiet emergency is unfolding. At AgriSompo, we believe it's time to shed light on this topic. We're committed to raising awareness, fostering conversation and providing essential resources to support the mental health of farmers, agents employees and their families. The resources also reflect a broader connection to mental wellness in rural America through the Sompo Foundation. Both Rural Minds and AgriSafe are grantees of the Sompo Foundation, which partners with organizations aligned to our mission and values to positively impact communities where we live and work. Rural Minds works nationally to advance mental health awareness and access in rural areas while AgriSafe focuses on protecting the health and safety of agricultural workers by equipping rural medical professionals with practical tools and training. Together, we can cultivate hope and create a stronger, healthier rural America.
In the video below, Brooks York, Vice President of Producer Services, joins U.S. Congressman Eric Sorensen to discuss how crop insurance does more than protect livelihoods — it provides critical peace of mind in an unpredictable industry.
