AgriSompo COO wins Women in Agribusiness Leadership Award

Marji Alaniz, AgriSompo's Chief Operations Officer, has been recognized as one of the inaugural winners of the Women in Agribusiness Leadership Awards. This new program recognizes the industry’s most influential women for their contributions to the future of the food and agriculture sector.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the crop insurance industry, Marji leads organizational strategy and execution at AgriSompo, helping drive business performance, operational excellence and long-term growth through strong, aligned teams. She joined AgriSompo in 2020 as Senior Vice President and has held a variety of leadership roles throughout her career.  

A passionate advocate for agriculture and rural communities, Marji is also the founder of FarmHer, a nationally recognized media company dedicated to sharing the stories of women in agriculture. Through FarmHer, she spent a decade traveling the country, highlighting the vital contributions women make across farming, ranching and agribusiness while inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Throughout her career, Marji has been committed to advancing the agriculture industry through mentorship, innovation and leadership development. She is a frequent speaker on topics including leadership, agriculture, risk management, women in agriculture and the future of the industry. Her work has centered on building stable businesses, making impactful connections, creating opportunities for others and helping strengthen agriculture and rural communities for generations to come. 

Marji holds a bachelor's degree in graphic design and journalism from Grand View University and an Executive MBA from Drake University. She lives in the Kansas City area and remains connected to her family's Iowa farming roots.
