Brooks York

Several ASNA team members will celebrate their twenty-year service anniversaries in 2023.

This month, let’s learn more about Brooks York, Director of Producer Services.

Brooks began his career as a grain merchandiser in the Ohio Valley. After wearing several different hats in the commercial grain arena, he switched over to crop insurance during the past few years. When asked what appeals to him about working in crop insurance, he said providing farmers with peace of mind is what drives him.

At the inception of modern crop insurance, one idea was to use it to help farmers market their crops. While this concept has never truly been utilized by most producers in the country, the opportunity to help our customers understand their insurance and marketing options, and to sleep better at night armed with this information, is what makes this the right career for Brooks.

When asked about the best career advice he’s ever received, Brooks says that his first manager suggested he focus on always doing the right thing in difficult situations. The ethics of the situation should trump financial impact to the company or the relationship with the customer.

If he could go back in time and give his younger self a piece of advice, he’d suggest doing the small things well each and every day. Don’t worry about taking over the world or achieving your next promotion — just do one thing at a time and do it to the best of your ability.
