Lori Newell

Several ASNA team members will celebrate their twenty-year service anniversaries in 2023.

This month, let’s learn more about Lori Newell, Technical Operations Manager.

Lori began her crop insurance career in 2003 with Heartland Crop Insurance as an underwriter. In 2013, she was promoted to underwriter team lead and three years later was promoted again to the underwriter supervisor position. After her promotion to supervisor, she was responsible for helping employees in both the Topeka, KS and Lexington, KY locations. When Diversified Crop Insurance Services acquired Heartland Crop Insurance in 2016, she stayed on as the underwriter supervisor for the Midwest location. In 2020, she became the Regional Operation Manager for Claims Processing and Underwriting for that area.

After the creation of AgriSompo North America, Lori was given the opportunity to be the Assistant Regional Operation Manager for the Midwest region. Today, she is our national Technical Operations Manager, working alongside the VPs of Operations and Regional Operations Managers for Underwriting.

When asked what keeps her in the crop insurance business, Lori says it’s the people – her fellow employees, the agents, and the farmers. She enjoys having a team of colleagues with the same goals. When you trust each other and work together, you become an extended family. Knowing that your work family is helping farmers provide for their families AND feeding the world is a huge bonus.

When asked what piece of advice she would give to someone just starting out in the business, Lori says to “aim high, work hard, and reach for the stars -- you don’t really know your capabilities until you put them to the test.”
